Old Pulteney has unveiled the oldest expression from the distillery to date, a 45 year old single malt titled Bow Wave.

Old Pulteney Bow Wave will be available exclusively through the second Distillers’ One of One auction, a series of biennial auctions bringing together one-off, never-to-be-repeated Scotch whiskies from distilleries across Scotland to raise funds to help disadvantaged young people in Scotland.

Old Pulteney Bow Wave was matured for more than four decades in American oak casks, before spending an additional five years maturing inside a single first-fill Spanish oak butt.

Official tasting notes for Old Pulteney Bow Wave follow:

Old Pulteney Bow Wave boasts a magnificent complexity and an unrivalled coastal character. Subtle whispers of sea spray entwine with the sweetness of honey, while delicate notes of aged oak and briny whispers of maritime air tantalise the palate. With each sip, Bow Wave bares its maritime soul, concluding with a long finish which is almost as enduring as the liquid itself.

Old Pulteney Bow Wave is presented in a hand-crafted art piece created by Brodie Nairn and Nichola Burns, Glass Artist and Designers at Glasstorm. The bottle, presented upon a bed of Caithness slate, is crafted from hand-blown glass and represents the movement of a ship through crashing waves.

The Distillers’ One of One auction will be hosted at Hopetoun House on October 25th, 2023, with proceeds donated to The Distillers’ Charity. To register interest in the auction, visit the Distillers’ One of One website.
