Westward Whiskey Announces Two Malts Rye (2023)

Westward Whiskey has announced its second Whiskey Club release of 2023: Westward Whiskey Two Malts Rye (2023). This release marks Westward Whiskey’s second edition of Two Malts Rye and is part of the ‘Two Malts’ innovation series that explores the many flavors and nuances of regional and global grains.

The first release of Two Malts Rye, offered back in 2019, contained 10% malted rye in its grain bill. This release, distilled in July 2018, features a mash bill of 12% malted rye and 88% Pacific Northwest grown and malted barley. Westward claims that the addition of rye grain to the mash “creates a remarkable shift in flavor, yielding more bright citrus, candied fruit, and classic rye nuttiness.”

Bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof), Westward Whiskey Two Malts Rye (2023) is described as having aromas of “citrus peel, toasted walnuts, and candied tangerine.” The palate exhibits notes of “green apple, baking spices, and shortbread,” concluding with a “peppery end with toasted coconut and dried nectarines” on the finish.

Westward Whiskey Two Malts Rye (2023) is priced at $99.95 for a 750 mL bottle and is now available for pre-order exclusively for Westward Whiskey Club members.
