The Glasgow Distillery Launches Glasgow 1770 Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish
The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of a new limited edition expression in the Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series: Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish.
Glasgow 1770 Red Wine and Ruby Port Cask Finish marries double distilled peated whisky matured in virgin American white oak and finished in Bordeaux red wine casks with triple distilled unpeated whisky matured in first fill ex-bourbon casks and finished in ruby port casks. Both cask types were initially laid down in early 2018 before being married together in equal parts and bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 57.5% ABV in late 2022.
Glasgow 1770 Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish is described as having aromas of “red berries and dark fruits” and notes of “toasted almonds and rich tobacco leaf” on the palate, concluding with a finish that’s “long and spicy with hints of pink peppercorns”.
Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish is limited to 1,925 bottles and carries a suggested retail price of £59. Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish is available now via The Glasgow Distillery website and at select UK retailers.
