2022 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection

The 2022 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) has been announced and will feature new releases of George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Eagle Rare 17 Year Old, and Sazerac 18 Year Old.

Details on the 2022 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection follow:

George T. Stagg

The 2002 release of George T. Stagg is bottled at a barrel strength of 138.7 proof (69.35% ABV). This bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2007 and aged in Warehouse K for 15 years and 5 months prior to bottling. It’s described as having notes of “toasted pecan and chocolate sauce” on the nose, “a rich blend of baking spice, vanilla, and cherry pie” on the palate, and “a robust finish of black coffee, molasses and oak.”

William Larue Weller

The 2022 release of William Larue Weller is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 124.7 proof (62.35% ABV). This wheated recipe bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2010 and aged in Warehouses C, K, and N. It’s described as having aromas of “toasted coconut, butterscotch, and caramel,” with “a touch of mint, dark cherry, and molasses” on the palate, and “a full-bodied finish with hints of leather, nutmeg, toffee, and vanilla.”

Thomas H. Handy

The 2022 release of Thomas H. Handy is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 130.9 proof (65.45% ABV). This straight rye whiskey was distilled in the spring of 2016 and aged in Warehouses I, L, and M. It’s described as having aromas of “floral notes, anise, marmalade, and meringue,” with “baking spice, a burst of orange peel, and subtle dark chocolate” on the palate, and “a long finish of cinnamon, praline and candied orange.”

Eagle Rare 17 Year Old

The 2022 release of Eagle Rare 17 Year Old is bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV). This bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2005 and aged in Warehouses H, K, and L. It’s described as having aromas of “tobacco, chocolate covered cherries, and a touch of oak,” with “caramel, vanilla bean, dark chocolate, and oak” on the palate, and “a full-bodied finish with baking spice, vanilla and butterscotch.”

Sazerac 18 Year Old

The 2022 release of Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). The barrels for this straight rye whiskey were filled in the spring of 2003 and 2004 and rested in Warehouses K, M, and P. It’s described as having aromas of “orange peel, lemon zest, and molasses,” with “a bold blend of black pepper, coriander seeds, and maple syrup” on the palate, and “a well-rounded finish with mint, tobacco leaf, and oak.”

The 2022 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection will be available in limited quantities starting in early-mid November at a suggested retail price of $99 each.
