Stoli Group Announces Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon Whiskey
Stoli Group has announced the release of Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon Whiskey, a limited edition collaboration between Master Blenders John Rhea of Kentucky Owl and Yusuke Yahisa of Nagahama Distillery.
Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon is a blend of 4, 5, 6 and 13 year old Kentucky straight bourbons with mash bills containing corn, rye or wheat, and malted barley. John Rhea and Yusuke Yahisa worked together to create the Takumi Edition blend, with Rhea selecting four different formulations and sending the samples to Japan. Yahisa evaluated those samples, which represented different ages and mash bills, then created different blends to develop one most reflective of his Japanese whisky style.
Bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof), Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon is described as having aromas of “light rye bread with sweet caramel richness and a hint of tangy fruit salad.” The palate has a “wave of buttery rye bread with a full-bodied feel and a savory mix of rye and caramel,” concluding with “cinnamon and caramel sauce, apple, and pear” on the finish.
Kentucky Owl Takumi Edition Bourbon Whiskey will be available across the U.S. beginning in October and carries a suggested retail price of $150 for a 750 mL bottle.
