The Glasgow Distillery Announces Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series

The Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of the Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series. The new collection of single malts aims to showcase the distillery’s collaborative approach to distilling and experimentation with a wide range of casks, beginning with a Tequila Cask Finish and Cognac Cask Finish.
Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series Tequila Cask Finish was distilled from unpeated single malt and filled into a first fill ex-bourbon cask in 2018, before being finished in an ex-tequila cask for a period of over 12 months. The single cask was bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 55% ABV, yielding 295 70 cL bottles. The Tequila Cask Finish is described as exhibiting notes of “rich honey, fresh apples, pears, and tropical fruits.”
Glasgow 1770 Small Batch Series Cognac Cask Finish was distilled from peated malt and filled into virgin American oak casks in 2018, before being finished in French cognac casks for a period of over 12 months. The two casks were bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 56% ABV, yielding 882 70 cL bottles. The Cognac Cask Finish is described as exhibiting notes of “smoky BBQ sauce, dark fruits, and earthy spice.”
The Tequila Cask Finish and Cognac Cask Finish carry a suggested retail price of £59 and will be available from The Glasgow Distillery website and at select UK retailers beginning August 23rd. Both expressions will be available in Germany, with the Cognac Cask Finish available in the Netherlands and South Korea.
