Stranahan’s Announces The Osopher Distillery Exclusive Limited Edition Whiskey

Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and Flying Dog Brewery have announced The Osopher project, a collaboration celebrating their shared history and commemorating their late founder, George Stranahan, with two new limited edition joint product releases.
Flying Dog has brewed The Osopher, an imperial porter aged in three of Stranahan’s 10 year old whiskey barrels. The Osopher is an imperial version of Road Dog porter, one of the first beers George Stranahan ever crafted for the brewery and the same beer mash used in the original Stranahan’s Whiskey.
Once the barrels were emptied and the beer was bottled, Flying Dog sent the barrels back to Stranahan’s where they were used to finish a batch of American single malt whiskey. With 11 years of aging and four months spent in Imperial Porter barrels, Stranahan’s The Osopher is the oldest whiskey bottled by the distillery to date.
Bottled at 47.3% ABV (94.6 proof), Stranahan’s The Osopher is described as having aromas of “coffee cake, roasty malt, toffee, and barrel char,” with notes of “dark chocolate caramels, sherried-soaked plums, and a dash of aged hops” on the palate. It concludes with “bread pudding and barley wine” on the “dry” finish.
Both Osopher releases feature artwork by Ralph Steadman, the artist and illustrator who has designed the labels and artwork for all Flying Dog beers for over 30 years.
Stranahan’s The Osopher will be available exclusively at the Stranahan’s Distillery in Denver, Colorado beginning Monday, August 22nd at 12:00 PM MST. The Osopher will retail for $159.99 and will be limited to two bottles per guest.
