Old Forester Launches The 117 Series Whiskey Row Fire
Old Forester has announced The 117 Series: Whiskey Row Fire, the latest expression in a limited edition line of whiskies created to explore and showcase the effects of experimenting with mash and yeast strains, barrel manipulation, maturation environments, and more.
Old Forester The 117 Series: Whiskey Row Fire honors the seventh anniversary of the July 7th, 2015 fire on Whiskey Row that nearly destroyed the historic block. In 2020, men and women of Louisville Fire, many of whom fought the blaze, selected eight single barrels from a lot filled the same day they extinguished the fire. All 8 barrels sold out in two days and proceeds were donated to the Louisville Firefighter Disaster Fund. The remainder of the barrels filled that day were left to age for an additional two years in the warehouse and are now batched together to create the 117 Series – Fireman Barrels.
Old Forester The 117 Series: Whiskey Row Fire is bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) and described as having aromas of “honey comb, malt, marzipan, cedar, fresh oak, and cherries laced with vanilla cream.” The palate has notes of “brown sugar, marzipan, vanilla, honey, and a mix of berry fruit.” The finish is “long” and “lingers” with notes of “honey, vanilla, and a touch of fruit.”
The 117 Series: Whiskey Row Fire is available now in limited quantities via the Old Forester Distilling Co. retail shop, select Kentucky retailers, and the Old Forester online shop in select states. The 117 Series: Whiskey Row Fire carries a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 375 mL bottle.
