Lochlea Distillery Launches Sowing Edition First Crop

Lochlea Distillery has launched Sowing Edition First Crop, the first release in an annual limited edition series of whiskies inspired by the changing seasons at Lochlea Farm.
Lochlea Sowing Edition First Crop was matured in 100% first-fill Bourbon casks and is bottled non-chill filtered and with no added color at 48% ABV. Sowing Edition First Crop is described as having aromas of “green apple skins, pear drops, cereal, and custard creams,” with notes of “vanilla sweetness, orchard fruits, and hazelnuts” on the palate, finishing “fruity with a final sweetness and lasting viscosity.”
Later this year, Lochlea Distillery’s seasonally inspired limited edition series will expand to include Harvest Edition in summer, Fallow Edition in autumn, and Ploughing Edition in winter. Each expression will tie into what’s happening on site at that time of year through cask selection, flavor profile, and packaging. As with all Lochlea whiskies, they will be created using barley grown on the Ayrshire farm and their own water source.
Lochlea Sowing Edition goes on sale today and will be available in the UK, Europe, and North America. It carries a suggested retail price of £50.
