Irish Distillers Unveils Method And Madness Japanese Trilogy
Irish Distillers has unveiled the Method And Madness Japanese Trilogy, a limited edition collection of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskeys finished in rare Japanese casks.
The Method And Madness Japanese Trilogy includes a 33 year old expression finished in Japanese Mizunara oak and two NAS (No Age Statement) expressions, finished respectively, in Japanese Chestnut and Japanese Cedarwood casks.
Method and Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Japanese Mizunara Oak Cask was initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 30 years, then finished in a Mizunara cask for an additional three years. Bottled at 52.8% ABV and limited to just 252 bottles, it’s described as having aromas of “coffee cake, toasted nuts, and worn leather,” with notes of “nutmeg, vanilla, and wood tannins” on the palate, concluding with “pot still spice, subtle fruits, and fresh oak” on the finish. Method And Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Finished in Japanese Cedarwood Casks was initially matured in bourbon and sherry barrels before a finishing period in Japanese Chestnut Casks for over 13 months. Bottled at 48% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “eucalyptus, fresh botanicals, and balsamic undertones,” with notes of “herbal tea, caraway seeds, and clove spice” on the palate, concluding with “delicate fruits, sweet-scented wood, and rich spices” on the finish. RRP: €95 (700 mL).
Method And Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Finished in Japanese Chestnut Casks was initially matured in bourbon and sherry barrels before a finishing period in Japanese Chestnut Casks for over 13 months. Bottled at 48% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “peppermint leaves, caramelized almonds, and ground pepper,” with notes of “liquorice, orange zest, and cooling menthol” on the palate, concluding with “herbal fruits, roasted coffee, and lingering spices” on the finish. RRP: €95 (700 mL).
Method And Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Japanese Mizunara Oak Cask is available now in Ireland, France, UK, USA and global travel retail. Method And Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Finished in Japanese Cedarwood Casks and Method And Madness Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey Finished in Japanese Chestnut Casks will follow in late March. The whiskeys will be available exclusively via the Whisky Exchange in the UK and distributed by Castle Brands in the USA beginning September 2022.
