Fettercairn Launches 16 Year Old 2nd Release: 2021

The Fettercairn Distillery has announced the launch of Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2nd Release: 2021, a limited edition bottling in an annual series that celebrates “different maturation stories whilst continuing to showcase the distillery’s tropical style achieved from the distinctive copper cooling ring distillation process.”
The 2021 release of Fettercairn 16 Year Old marries Sherry matured and Sherry finished casks that were hand-selected from a small, family run Bodega in Jerez and include first fill Oloroso, refill Oloroso, and first fill aged Palo Cortado Sherry butts.
Bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 46.4% ABV, Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2nd Release is described as having aromas of “sugared almonds, dried fruits, and aged wood,” with notes of “alphonso mango, rich citrus zest, apricots, walnut, coffee, and liquorice” on the palate, concluding with “salted caramel, sandalwood, and iced ginger cake” on the finish.
Fettercairn 16 Year Old 2nd Release will be available across Europe beginning this month, before expanding to Global Travel Retail and select Asian markets in 2022. Fettercairn 16 Year Old carries a suggested retail price of £69 (~$91) for a 70 cL bottle and £79 (~$104) for the Global Travel Retail edition which is presented in a 1 L bottle.
