Found North Launches Batch 003 & 004
Found North, an independent bottler and blender of Canadian whisky launched in March 2021, has announced its next two releases: Batch 003, a 17 year old cask strength Canadian rye whisky, and Batch 004, an 18 year old cask strength Canadian whisky containing a high percentage of corn.
Found North Batch 003 is a blend of 18 year old rye aged in ex-tequila barrels, 18 year old rye aged in ex-Speyside scotch casks, 21 year old corn aged in used American oak, 17 year old rye aged in Hungarian oak, and 25 year old corn aged in Hungarian oak, with a final composition of 64% rye, 32% corn, and 4% malted barley. Batch 003 is bottled non chill-filtered and of natural color at 55.1% ABV (110.2 proof) and is limited to 2,792 bottles. Official tasting notes for Batch 003 follow:
The resulting whisky cascades from high to low, starting with a trove of striking berry notes, citrus and honeysuckle, dovetailing gracefully into a silky, buttery mid-palate, before settling into its lengthy rye undertones that provide a resounding, deep, spicy finish. Each sip tastes like someone baked an apple crisp right onto your palate, showing robust cinnamon and a lingering gingerbread finish that mingles with gentle tannins.
Found North Batch 004 is a blend of 25 year old corn aged in Hungarian oak, 18 year old rye aged in ex-Speyside scotch casks, and 18 year old rye aged in rechar American oak, with a final composition of 80% corn, 19% rye, and 1% malted barley. Batch 004 is bottled non chill-filtered and of natural color at 62.4% ABV (124.8 proof) and is limited to 2,746 bottles. Official tasting notes for Batch 004 follow:
Batch 004 presents sticky maple syrup, leather and mahogany wood extract on the nose. It is like bubbling-hot butterscotch drizzled on top of a Tahitian vanilla bean affogato mixed with caramelized red fruits, reminiscent of old French-style rum. The slick, viscous palate presents shortbread and chocolate-covered cashews dunked in a demerara river of oil and pure, liquefied sugarcane, followed by a spicy warm finish that tingles and envelopes your chest.
Found North Batch 003 and Batch 004 are available now at a suggested retail price of $135 and $145, respectively.
