Johnnie Walker has announced that Dr. Emma Walker will be taking over the title of Master Blender from Dr. Jim Beveridge, who is retiring after spending more than four decades at Diageo.

Jim Beveridge started his career with Johnnie Walker as an analytical chemist 42 years ago and has spent the last 20 years as Master Blender. Jim has been responsible for some of the world’s most popular and acclaimed Scotch whiskies, including Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

Emma Walker joined Diageo 13 years ago and has worked extensively on Johnnie Walker for the last six years. Emma has been responsible for innovations such as the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare series and Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker. Emma will be the first female to take on the role of Johnnie Walker Master Blender and will lead a team of 12 whisky makers in creating the numerous Johnnie Walker variants that are sold around the world.

Jim Beveridge will remain with Johnnie Walker until the end of the year and Emma Walker will officially take over the title of Master Blender on January 1, 2022.
