Ardbeg Scorch Limited Edition Announced

Ardbeg Scorch, a heavily peated Islay single malt fully matured in Ardbeg’s most heavily charred ex-bourbon American oak casks, has been announced as 2021’s Ardbeg Day limited edition bottling.
Held on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle), Ardbeg Day is a global, annual celebration of all things Ardbeg. This year, Ardbeg is inviting fans around the world to join them for a whisky created in homage to the long told tales of an Islay dragon that was bravely slain by a heroic warrior many moons ago.
Ardbeg Scorch is described as having “intense aromas of soot and smoke with hints of aniseed and fragrant patchouli interlaced with bold notes of quenched steel and saddle soap.” With water, the nose reveals “herbal top notes of briar wood, sage and pine wisp.” The palate is described as “oily” with “billowy clouds of sweet smoke, dragon charred oak, grilled fare, black liquorice, and medicinal lozenge.” It concludes with “a subtle tarry aftertaste and a finish that will drag on, well into its happily ever after.”
Ardbeg Scorch is bottled NCF (Non Chill-Filtered) and of natural color at 51.7% ABV for the Committee Edition and 46% ABV for the general release. Ardbeg Scorch Committee Edition will be available beginning May 1st at a suggested retail price of $139.00 and the general release will be available beginning June 1st at a suggested retail price of $119.00.
