Johnnie Walker Releases Blue Label Year of the Ox Limited Edition

In celebration of Chinese New Year on February 12, 2021, Johnnie Walker has released Blue Label Year of the Ox, a limited edition blended Scotch whisky packaged in a custom box and bottle featuring artwork by artist Shirley Gong. The artwork is intended to capture the “prosperity, growth and good fortune” the Ox’s arrival signifies.
Year of the Ox is blended from the same components as the standard Johnnie Walker Blue Label, but it’s bottled at a higher ABV (46% vs 40%) for additional character and intensity of flavor. Official tasting notes describe Blue Label Year of the Ox as “velvety smooth and vibrant with layers of fruit, spice and long, lingering smokiness.”
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Ox is available now at a suggested retail price of $229.99 for a 750 mL bottle.

Hi there,
are there two versions? My bottle here has 40% only.
46% would be… unusual.

Do you have a bottle of the Year of the Ox edition, or standard Blue Label? The standard bottling is 40% ABV.

if you look closely in the bottom right corner… 40%… probably bottled for Europe?

That must be it. I wonder if the US is the only region that received the 46% ABV version? I’ll ping my contact and see if they can provide some insight.
EDIT: Just received confirmation that this is bottled at 40% ABV for the UK.
Hi there,
not only the UK, I think the whole of Europe. But nevermind there are much more important issues in this world.
