Old Forester Announces 150th Anniversary Bourbon

Old Forester is celebrating 150 years of heritage with the launch of Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon, a limited release commemorating founder George Garvin Brown and the history of the “First Bottled Bourbon.”
For the Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon, barrels chosen by Master Distiller Chris Morris were set aside for Master Taster Jackie Zykan to marry into three distinct batches, differing in proof and flavor profile.
Batch 01/03 is a marriage of 46 barrels bottled unfiltered at a batch strength of 125.6 proof (62.8% ABV). It’s described as a fruit bomb with aromas of “maple syrup, ripe orchard fruits, apricot and plum”, notes of “açaí and black current” on the palate, and a “moderately dry” finish with notes of “graham cracker, subtle peppermint, and spice.”
Batch 02/03 is a marriage of 48 barrels bottled unfiltered at a batch strength of 126.4 proof (63.2% ABV). It’s described as sweet and spry with aromas of “cherry cordial and raspberry preserves”, notes of “French toast and chocolate malt” on the palate, and a “mildly dry” finish with notes of “spice and a touch of cedar.”
Batch 03/03 is marriage of 53 barrels bottled unfiltered at a batch strength of 126.8 proof (63.4% ABV). It’s described as green and spicy with aromas of “dill, bright orange peel, and a hint of light brown sugar”, notes of “melon and pine” on the palate, and a “medium dry” finish with notes of “green peppercorns, rosemary, grapefruit peel, and anise.”
Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon is presented in an amber glass bottle, reminiscent of the hand-blown glass of the late 1800s, and packaged in a commemorative keepsake canister. Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon will be available in the United States in limited quantities starting October and carries a suggested retail price of $150.
