Blue Spot Cask Strength Irish Whiskey Revealed

When Irish Distillers relaunched Red Spot Irish Whiskey in November 2018, they dropped a hint that the discontinued 7 year old Blue Spot could be next.
After one and half years, labels submitted to and approved by the TTB have confirmed that Blue Spot Irish Whiskey is in fact being relaunched. Matured for at least seven years in Bourbon barrels, Sherry butts, and Madeira casks, Blue Spot will be bottled non chill-filtered and at cask strength, with the first release expected to come in at 59.2% ABV.
The back label describes Blue Spot Irish Whiskey as having aromas of “pineapple, kiwi, green banana, lime zest, Pot Still spices, baked apple, hazelnut and toasted wood”, with notes of “mixed fruit, clove oil, cracked black pepper corns, sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon” on the palate, finishing with “lasting exotic fruits and spices.”
Expect an official announcement with more information, including pricing, release date, and availability, prior to launch.

I’m looking forward to this too – bottling at cask strength does wonders for triple distilled Irish whiskey!
