Ardbeg Blaaack Limited Edition Announced

Ardbeg Blaaack, a heavily peated Islay single malt fully matured in Pinot Noir wine casks from New Zealand, has been announced as 2020’s Ardbeg Day limited edition bottling.
Held on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle), Ardbeg Day is a global, annual celebration of all things Ardbeg. This year, Ardbeg is inviting fans everywhere to join them as they toast to the 20th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee, their global fan club founded in 2000.
Ardbeg Blaaack is described as having aromas of “baked fruit pudding, cedar wood, aromatic cigar box, oak tannins, rich truffles, and subtle notes of smoky jam tart.” With water, the nose reveals “bitter cherry, zest, and fragrant violet notes.” The palate is described as “velvety” with notes of “aniseed, soot, summer fruits (cherries, strawberries, apricots, pears), crumbly pastry, dark chocolate, coffee, and almonds”, concluding with a “long, lingering, sooty finish.”
Ardbeg Blaaack is bottled NCF (Non Chill-Filtered) and of natural color at 50.7% ABV for the Committee Edition and 46% ABV for the general release. Ardbeg Blaaack will be available beginning May 30, 2020 at a suggested retail price of $140.00.
