High West Announces High Country American Single Malt

High West High Country Single Malt

High West has announced High Country American Single Malt, their first new expression in over three years.

High Country is a blend of single malt whiskeys aged 2-9 years in freshly charred and second-use oak barrels, bottled at 44% ABV (88 proof) without chill filtration, coloring, or flavoring. Unlike many of High West’s whiskeys, which are blends of sourced spirit, High Country is distilled entirely in-house and “on-the-grain” – meaning the grain is left in during fermentation and distillation, instead of filtered out.

High West describes High Country as having aromas of “Roasted macadamia nuts, dried cherry, Bananas Foster, toasted coconut, chocolate chip ice cream, raisin bread, softwood smoke in a sooty chimney, and sea spray”, with notes of “Smoked pear, honey over baked apples, lemon rind, cherry Toblerone, dark chocolate milkshake topped with whipped cream, toffee nuts, toasted puffed rice, sea salt, and buttered skillet brioche rolls” on the palate, finishing with “Honeycomb, charred marshmallow, cocoa nibs, and earthy spice from a forest floor.”

High West High Country American Single Malt will be available exclusively at the High West General Stores in Park City and Wanship, Utah beginning December 7th, with plans for a national US release in 2021.
