Ardbeg Releases Supernova 2019
Ardbeg has released Supernova 2019, the fifth entry in the peatiest expression produced at the distillery.
Ardbeg Supernova is a series of limited edition releases created to celebrate Ardbeg’s space experiment, in which Ardbeg sent a vial of spirit to orbit the earth for three years aboard the International Space Station, becoming the first whisky brand in space. The Supernova series launched in 2009 and was supposed to conclude with the fourth entry in 2015, but has returned for at least one more release with Supernova 2019.
Ardbeg Supernova 2019 is described as having aromas of “Clouds of pungent aniseed, menthol and eucalyptus, underscored with sweet notes of treacle toffee. Hints of peppermint, a frisson of fennel, and a mysterious camphorous scent in the far distance… With water, more toffee notes emerge with a burst of dry, earthy peat.” The palate has “A tingly, peppery mouthfeel that leads to a veritable explosion of intense, earthy, smoky notes – a nebular of bonfires, soot, charred oak, birch tar and menthol.” The finish is “Unbelievably long, with layers of treacle toffee, aniseed, oak tannin, clove and just a hint of bittersweet, tangy Seville orange on the aftertaste.”
Ardbeg Supernova 2019 is bottled at 53.8% ABV and will be available beginning today at a suggested retail price of $180.00.

Where can I purchase it in USA. I have been waiting, waiting and waiting.
I’ve been told this release is highly allocated. Your best bet will be to check with large stores and whisky specialty shops. I’m not seeing much on Wine-Searcher.com.
The Pennsylvania State run Liquor Store has the Ardbeg Supernova 2019 available right now. It has to be ordered online and picked up at a store in Pennsylvania or it can be delivered to a PA address. The website is http://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com. I bought two bottles so I thought I would share this info with you.
