Kilchoman Releases 100% Islay 9th Edition
Kilchoman has announced the release of 100% Islay 9th Edition. Released annually since 2011, the 100% Islay range is distilled from barley grown in the fields surrounding the distillery before the Kilchoman team malt, distill, mature and bottle on site.
Distilled from 2007 and 2009 barley crops that have been peated to 20 ppm (parts per million), the 100% Islay 9th Edition is a vatting of 43 ex-bourbon barrels matured for over 9 years in Kilchoman’s on-site dunnage warehouses.
Kilchoman 100% Islay 9th Edition is described as having aromas of “citrus sweetness, apricots, juniper and wild herbs”, with “layers of lemon tart, vanilla, briny peat, smoke and dark maple syrup” on the palate, and a “long, clean, oily and intense” finish.
Bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof), a total of 12,000 bottles of Kilchoman 100% Islay 9th Edition will be available beginning September 12th at a suggested retail price of £71.94 (~$88).
