Compass Box Reformulates The Peat Monster Recipe for 2019

Compass Box has announced a new label and recipe for The Peat Monster, their heavily peated blended malt Scotch whisky. All batches released moving forward will ditch the “Classic Brown Label” in favor of a colorful new label dubbed “The Painting Label”, which showcases artwork specially commissioned for The Peat Monster.
The “Classic Brown Label” was comprised of Laphroaig matured in a refill hogshead (34%), Ledaig matured in a refill barrel (6%), Caol Ila matured in a refill hogshead (54%), Ardmore matured in a refill hogshead (5%), and a Highland Malt Blend matured in custom, heavily toasted French oak barrels (1%).
“The Painting Label” is comprised of Caol Ila matured in a refill hogshead (64%), Laphroaig matured in a refill hogshead (35%), and a Highland Malt Blend matured in custom, heavily toasted French oak barrels (1%).
Compass Box The Peat Monster will continue to be bottled non-chill filtered and of natural color at 46% ABV.
