Silver Brothers Releases 3 Year Rye Whiskey Batch No. 2
Silver Brothers has announced the release of Silver Brothers 3 Year Rye Whiskey Batch No. 2.
A marriage of six 30 gallon barrels, this rye marks Silver Brothers’ first release made with estate grain. All of the rye in this mashbill (40% malted Hazlet rye, 40% unmalted Hazlet rye, and 20% malted barley) is from their first-year harvest, in this case the AC Hazlet varietal. Hazlet rye has a lighter flavor profile than other rye varieties, with a distinctive sweetness reminiscent of vanilla frosting or cake batter.
Bottled at 46% ABV, Silver Brothers 3 Year Rye Batch No. 2 is described as having aromas of “orange, graham cracker, clove, and green grass with a hint of dill.” The palate exhibits notes of “orange, black cherry, vanilla, and white pepper.” The finish is “smooth and lingering.”
