Old Forester Announces 2026 Birthday Bourbon
Old Forester has announced the 2026 bottling of its annual Birthday Bourbon, a whisky created to celebrate the birthday of Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown.
Old Forester 2026 Birthday Bourbon is drawn from 212 barrels on the third floor of Warehouse B, the oldest warehouse at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Shively. Due to a holiday weekend, the new make spirit was stored in the cistern room for an unusually long time – 6 days, lowering the entry proof from 125 to 124.4 due to tank venting. The whisky was then aged for 11 years, before being married and bottled at 97 proof (48.5% ABV).
The 2026 Birthday Bourbon is described as having aromas of “classic baking spice, notably zesty ginger with sweet vanilla bean, honey, and malted graham cracker with a hint of cherry.” The palate exhibits “warm honey and rich buttery caramel complemented with bold tobacco, herbal notes, and bright cherry character.” It finishes with “toasted oak with subtle notes of graham cracker and lingering herbal mint.”
Old Forester 2026 Birthday Bourbon is available in highly limited quantities for a suggested retail price of $199.99.
