Nikka Whisky Announces Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage Gift Set
Nikka Whisky has announced the release of Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage Gift Set, a limited edition set featuring three 500 mL bottles: Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage, Malt Pieces of the Barrel, and Grain Pieces of the Barrel.
The gift set offers a deconstruction of Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage into its component blends – Malt Pieces of the Barrel and Grain Pieces of the Barrel. When combined, the blend of malt whiskies and the blend of grain whiskies – married in barrel for six months – result in Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage.
Nikka Malt Pieces of the Barrel (58% ABV) is described as having aromas of “rich malt character, pleasant oak, sweet vanilla, chocolate cake, and apricot jam.” The palate is “structured and mouth filling, with a sweetness reminiscent of ripe fruits, leading into a deep, mellow peat.” The finish exhibits “a hint of bitterness and sweetness, with a mild peaty flavor that lingers.”
Nikka Grain Pieces of the Barrel (58% ABV) is described as having aromas of “banana cake, with bitter-sweet marmalade notes and subtle oak notes.” The palate is “sweet and smooth, with a rich flavor and aroma derived from corn, and a subtle hint of spice.” The finish is “slightly bitter, with a light sweetness reminiscent of pear.”
Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage (51.4% ABV) is described as having aromas of “soft and mellow oak, rich chocolate, ripe fruit and vanilla sweetness, refreshing orange peel, and malt sweetness.” The palate is “rich and full-bodied, with bold flavors with a smooth, mellow texture and fine oak tannins.” It concludes with “mild barrel aroma, a woody and bitter aftertaste, and gentle oak aroma with a subtle bitterness on the long finish.”
