Michter’s Releases 2026 Edition of Two Legacy Series Whiskeys: Shenk’s Homestead & Bomberger’s Declaration

Michter’s Distillery has announced the 2026 releases of two whiskies from its Legacy Series: Shenk’s Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey and Bomberger’s Declaration Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
For the 2026 Shenk’s Homestead release, Michter’s used caramel malted barley in the mash and matured the spirit in barrels crafted with some 24-month air dried French oak from the Vosges forest, as well as some 60-month air dried American oak. Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee describes the 2026 Shenk’s release as “being a bit rye forward, with a nice caramel bread pudding note that balances the beautiful spice.”
For the 2026 Bomberger’s Declaration release, Michter’s once again used Chinquapin oak coupled with the addition of some Hungarian oak. Both types of oak were naturally seasoned and air dried for three years with a custom toast and char. Michter’s Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson describes the 2026 release of Bomberger’s as exhibiting “an intriguing, rich chocolate decadence around the cherry and spice attributes synonymous with Chinquapin.”
Shenk’s is bottled at 91.2 proof (45.6% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $110. Bomberger’s is bottled at 108 proof (54% ABV) and has a suggested retail price of $120. Both will be available beginning this April.
