The Jack Daniel Distillery has announced Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye as the latest release in its annual series of limited edition whiskeys.

The Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye is a barrel proof Tennessee Rye Whiskey matured in one of the oldest barrelhouses at the Jack Daniel Distillery. Tanyard Hill, located next to Coy Hill at the Jack Daniel Distillery, is home to four barrel houses built in the early 1960s.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye was distilled from Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye Whiskey mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. The spirit was charcoal filtered, then filled into new American White Oak barrels in November 2015 and left to mature in Barrel House 1 atop Tanyard Hill.

Due to the nature of single barrel, barrel proof whiskey, bottles of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye will range from 65.10%-74.40% ABV (130.2-148.8 proof).

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye is described as having aromas of “dark fruit and sweet oak,” with flavors of “candied mint, dark chocolate, and layers of baking spice.” It finishes with notes of “clove and sweet tobacco with a long-lasting oak balance.”

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye will be available in limited quantities across the U.S. beginning this month and carries a suggested retail price of $79.99 for a 700 mL bottle.
