1792 Bourbon Launches 1792 Cognac Cask Finish

1792 Bourbon has announced the launch of 1792 Cognac Cask Finish, the first cask finished expression to join the brand’s permanent portfolio.
1792 Cognac Cask Finish is crafted at Barton 1792 Distillery using the same high-rye mashbill, fermentation, and distillation process as the flagship 1792 Small Batch Bourbon. To create 1792 Cognac Cask Finish, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey initially matured in charred American White Oak barrels was transferred into ex-Cognac casks for a secondary maturation period. These barrels are placed on the top floors of the rickhouses, where rising heat intensifies aging and interaction with the wood. After resting for a minimum of six months in Cognac casks, the barrels are batched and bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV).
1792 Cognac Cask Finish is described as having aromas of “dark cocoa and rich caramel.” The palate exhibits flavors of “ripe stone fruit — plum, apricot, and cherry — alongside notes of Bananas Foster and creamy vanilla.” It finishes with “sweet oak.”
1792 Cognac Cask Finish is now available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $37.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
