Old Forester Announces 2025 Birthday Bourbon

Old Forester has announced the 2025 bottling of its annual Birthday Bourbon, a whisky created to celebrate the birthday of Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown.
In a departure from previous years, this year’s batch was created without the use of “setback” during fermentation — a standard practice that ensures consistency. Instead, a “sweet mash” process was used, relying solely on freshly-propagated yeast.
Old Forester 2025 Birthday Bourbon is the product of 210 barrels from one day’s production (April 5, 2013) that were matured in Warehouse K, Floors 1 and 5, for 12 years, before being married and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV).
The 2025 Birthday Bourbon is described as having aromas of “herbal tea and cardamom complimented by hints of raw oak as well as tropical fruits and green apple.” The palate exhibits notes of “oak and vanilla, balanced with sweet citrus and clove spice.” It finishes with “candied apple and burnt sugar with leather and chai spice.”
Old Forester 2025 Birthday Bourbon will be available in highly limited quantities beginning in September at a suggested retail price of $199.99. It was also be available at Old Forester Distillery via a national sweepstakes running through August 21, 2025.
