Old Potrero Launches California Cellar Series
Hotaling & Co. has announced the launch of the Old Potrero California Cellar Series.
The new series, inspired by the shared heritage of California wineries and craft distilleries, launches with two wine-cask finished rye whiskeys:
Old Potrero Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Silver Oak Wine Barrels
To create this expression, Old Potrero Straight Rye Whiskey aged for more than 6 years is finished in Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon American Oak Barrels for 5 months. Bottled at 56.6% ABV, it’s described as “rich” on the nose, with aromas of “caramel and stewed fruit.” The palate delivers “spicy complexity and sweetness”, with notes of “honeyed-rye and stone fruit.”
Old Potrero Toasted Barrel Rye Whiskey Finished in Sonoma Portworks Wine Barrels
To create this expression, Old Potrero Toasted Barrel Rye Whiskey aged for over 5 years is finished in Sonoma Portworks Petite Sirah Port Barrels for 17 months. Bottled at 56.8% ABV, it’s described as having aromas of “deep caramel, rich vanilla, cooked fruit, and cacao,” and flavors of “sweet rye, spicy cinnamon, nuttiness, and bright cherry wood.”
Both expressions will be available beginning this month at a suggested retail price of $99.99 for a 700 mL bottle.
