Blue Note Bourbon has announced the launch of a limited release Honey Rye Cask.

To create Blue Note Honey Rye Cask, American oak barrels used for finishing were repurposed to produce a locally sourced, barrel-aged honey. The team then finished a rye whiskey, which was distilled from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and aged for a minimum of three years, in the honey-infused casks, before bottling at 117.2 proof (58.6% ABV).

Blue Note Honey Rye Cask is described as having aromas of “very light apricot, vanilla, all spice, and oak.” The palate exhibits “caramel, hints of apricot, oak, floral, and all spice” notes. It concludes with a “soft and balanced finish with light texture, with lingering hints of wildflower and honey.”

Blue Note Honey Rye Cask is limited to approximately 3,500 bottles and is now available for purchase online at bluenotebourbon.com and seelbachs.com. It’s also available at retailers in CT, FL, GA, KS, MA, MO, NJ, NY, RI, TN, and TX for a suggested retail price of $64.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
