BlockBar Announces Auction for Bottle #1 of Eagle Rare 25 Year Old
BlockBar, in partnership with Sazerac, has announced an auction for bottle #1 out of 200 of Eagle Rare 25 – 2023 Release.
Released in November 2023, Eagle Rare 25 is the oldest expression released from the Eagle Rare portfolio and the first release from Warehouse P, one of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s two experimental warehouses. Warehouse P was constructed to test if it was possible to extend favorably both the aging and maturation processes typical for American whiskey and bourbon.
Eagle Rare 25 is described as having aromas of “intense cherry, oak, dark chocolate, and an icing drizzle.” The palate is “a balance of vanilla, dark fruit, and butterscotch,” followed by “an extremely long finish with lingering notes of rickhouse floor, baking spice, and black pepper.”
Bottled at 101 proof, Eagle Rare 25 is presented in a custom display box that opens to reveal an eagle’s outstretched wings framing a custom sterling silver wing hand-hammered to a hand-blown crystal decanter. The decanter also contains a glass eagle on the inside.
In addition to bottle #1 of Eagle Rare 25, the auction lot also includes an invitation for the owner and a guest to visit Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. The experience includes a private tour of the distillery and Warehouse P, a VIP tasting, and an overnight stay at Stagg Lodge with dinner prepared by the distillery’s private chef.
