Bushmills Announces The Rare Casks Limited Release No. 4 – 31 Year Old Single Malt

Bushmills Irish Whiskey has announced the fourth and final installment in The Rare Casks, its series of limited edition, high age statement Irish single malts.
Bushmills The Rare Casks Limited Release No. 4 is a 31 year old, triple cask matured single malt that initially spent 14 years maturing in bourbon barrels and sherry butts, before being transferred into new American oak casks for 17 years.
Bottled at 45.6% ABV, Bushmills The Rare Casks Limited Release No. 4 is described as having aromas of “ripe fruit, warm vanilla, and rich oak wood intermingled with sweet honey and spiced pear followed by orange peel and dried fruit.” The palate exhibits notes of “warm honey and vanilla combined with creamy milk chocolate, pear, sweet apple, and warming spiced coconut.” It finishes with “exceptionally long sweet warm vanilla and honey balanced with gentle spice.”
Limited to only 780 bottles and exclusive to the United States, Bushmills The Rare Casks Limited Release No. 4 carries a suggested retail price of $2,600 and will be available in limited quantities online at ReserveBar.com and at select retailers nationwide.

I’m a little worried about 17 years in new oak??
I share the same concerns – 17 years is a LONG time for anything to be matured in new oak.
