San Francisco’s Hotaling & Co. has announced the re-release of Old Potrero Hotaling’s Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey, an expression originally released on the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake that destroyed most of the city, but notably not A.P. Hotaling’s whiskey warehouse.

Pot-distilled from 100% malted rye and aged in once-used, charred fine-grain, American oak barrels for 16 years, the re-release of Old Potrero Hotaling’s Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey celebrates the survival of the warehouse on the 118th Anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

Bottled at 50% ABV, Old Potrero Hotaling’s Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey is described as having aromas of “rye spiciness, including pepper and cinnamon, with fruit and honey and a subtle oakiness.” The palate is “spicy with a hint of sweetness, rounded by the malted rye.” It concludes with a “substantial mouthfeel with a long, complex finish.”

Limited to only 432 bottles, Old Potrero Hotaling’s Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey is available now at a suggested retail price of $199 for a 700 mL bottle.
