Pinhook Launches Vertical Series Rye 8 Year
Pinhook has announced the launch of its latest release, the Vertical Series Rye 8 Year.
The Pinhook Vertical Series follows a single group of bourbon and rye barrels sourced from Midwest Grain Products (MGP) of Indiana as they mature from four to 12 years of age at Castle & Key in Frankfort, Kentucky. Made with a set mash bill (95% rye and 5% malted barley), barrels, and similar fill dates, the only thing affecting aroma and flavor of the spirit is the aging process itself.
Pinhook Vertical Series Rye 8 Year is blended from 32 barrels and bottled at 108.4 proof (54.2% ABV). It’s described as having aromas of “orange zest, green apple, caramel, and cinnamon,” leading to notes of “licorice, burnt sugar, cedar, and clove” on the palate.
Staying true to its racehorse roots, Pinhook is dedicated to showcasing a thoroughbred on each bottle. The Vertical Series Rye bottles all feature Tiz Rye Time, a magnificent thoroughbred colt that competed at Churchill Downs, Keeneland, and Saratoga Springs racetracks.
