Old Forester has announced The 117 Series: Scotch Cask Finish, a limited edition bottle that celebrates Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown’s Scottish heritage.
Old Forester The 117 Series: Scotch Cask Finish is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky finished in Speyside sourced sherry and wine barrels that were formerly used to mature and finish Scotch Whisky. The cask finish highlights Old Forester’s natural fruit character which is a result of fermentation with the oldest yeast strain in the industry.
Bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV), Old Forester The 117 Series: Scotch Cask Finish is described as having aromas of “subtle hints of smoky char, milk chocolate drizzled over shortbread accompanied by mulled, spiced fruit.” The palate exhibits notes of “baked apples and dried fruits with rich notes of toffee, cinnamon, and chocolate rounded out by toasted almonds and smoky char.” The finish is “silky and buttery with cocoa and baking spices lingering into an earthy and oaky finish.”
