Old Overholt Announces Extra Aged Cask Strength Rye

Old Overholt has unveiled Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength Rye, a limited release that marks the first publicly available cask strength expression from the brand since the mid-20th century.
Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength Rye was barreled in the winter and autumn seasons of 2012 and aged for 10 years in one of the few remaining “Escalator Warehouses” in Clermont, Kentucky – Warehouse V – before being bottled unfiltered at a cask strength of 121 proof (60.5% ABV).
Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength Rye is described as having aromas of “mellowed oak, sweet corn, and vanilla, underpinned by warm black pepper and cinnamon-toast spice.” The palate exhibits notes of “brown sugar, honey, leather, and charred oak,” concluding with a “long finish with lingering rye spice and vanilla.”
Old Overholt Extra Aged Cask Strength Rye is rolling out nationwide in limited quantities and carries a suggested retail price of $99.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
