WhistlePig Announces PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel
WhistlePig Whiskey has announced the third release in its limited edition PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel.
Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye whiskey is finished with a lychee and oolong tea barrel. Selected by the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake drivers, trial barrels were tested in the team’s wind tunnel in Switzerland, then endured varying levels of G-Forces at the WhistlePig farm and distillery in Vermont, accelerating the interaction between the whiskey and the wood. The Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof (48.385% ABV), a nod to Finnish racing driver Valtteri Bottas’ Formula One car number, 77.
WhistlePig PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is described as having aromas of “herbal and floral notes,” with “oolong tea and herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye” on the palate, concluding with a “juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.”
