Old Forester Announces 2023 Birthday Bourbon
Old Forester has announced the 2023 bottling of its annual Birthday Bourbon, a whisky created to celebrate the birthday of Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown.
Old Forester 2023 Birthday Bourbon is the product of 103 barrels that were filled on May 5, 2011 and matured on the 5th floor of Warehouse I for 12 years, before being married and bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV).
The 2023 Birthday Bourbon is described as having aromas of “bright candied citrus and floral overtones, rich turbinado sugar and roasted coffee beans, and slight cedar and charred oak.” The palate exhibits notes of “subtle citrus with heavy notes of dark honey, molasses, and charred oak.” It concludes with a “dry toasty oaked caramel with lingering bittersweet tannins” on the finish.
Old Forester 2023 Birthday Bourbon will be available in highly limited quantities beginning in September at a suggested retail price of $169.99.
