Los Magos Launches Limited Edition Sotol Aged in WhistlePig Rye Barrels
Los Magos has announced the launch of a barrel-aged sotol created in collaboration with WhistlePig Whiskey: Los Magos Barrel-Aged Sotol WhistlePig Edition #1.
Sotol (pronounced “so-TOLL”) is a spirit distilled from a family of shrubs which grow wild in the Chihuahuan Desert of Northern Mexico. This is in contrast to tequila and mezcal, which are distilled from the agave plant.
Los Magos Barrel-Aged Sotol WhistlePig Edition #1 is a limited edition release created from 100% wild harvested sotol that was aged for over twelve months in oak barrels that previously held WhistlePig 10 Year Rye Whiskey. It’s described as having “herbal and floral notes that are surrounded by the spice of rye with a touch of sweetness that still pays tribute to the true integrity of sotol,” exhibiting “hints of smoke, wood, and eucalyptus.”
Los Magos Barrel-Aged Sotol WhistlePig Edition #1 is now available at select retailers nationwide.
