Orphan Barrel Launches Scarlet Shade

Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. has announced the launch of Orphan Barrel Scarlet Shade, the first ever Rye whiskey release in the Orphan Barrel collection.
Scarlet Shade is a 14 year old Straight Rye Whiskey distilled in Indiana, aged in Kentucky, and bottled in Tennessee at 45% ABV (90 proof).
Scarlet Shade is described as having “sweet vanilla butter cream and lightly toasted oak” aromas, and tastes of “warm baking spices, rye toast, and orchard fruits, before warming into sweet orange marmalade and lingering as a dark chocolate finish.”
The label design pays homage to the history of Scarlet Shade, featuring a cardinal surrounded by a peony, with the cardinal representing the state bird of Indiana and Kentucky and the peony representing Indiana’s state flower.
Orphan Barrel Scarlet Shade will be available in limited quantities beginning this month for a suggested retail price of $199.99.
