BHAKTA Spirits Launches BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon

BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon

BHAKTA Spirits has announced the launch of its inaugural whiskey vintage — BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon, the first-ever bourbon release from BHAKTA Spirits and WhistlePig Whiskey Founder Raj Peter Bhakta.

Distilled in 2013 from a 99% corn mash bill by MGP of Indiana, BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon was initially matured in new American oak, then finished in French Oak barrels — which previously held Armagnac vintages dating back to 1868 — before being bottled at a cask strength of 50.3% ABV at 9 years, 5 months old.

BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon is described as “deep, rich amber” in color, with aromas of “vanilla, biscuits, butterscotch, and toasted oak.” The palate is “very spicy with notes of nutmeg and hazelnut,” concluding with “stewed pears and apples with an intense lingering finish.”

BHAKTA’s inaugural bourbon will be followed by further vintage releases across all major categories — whiskey, rum, tequila, and more — which will expand the BHAKTA portfolio and complement its BHAKTA Armagnac range of rare vintages and blends.

Limited to 12,000 bottles, BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon has a suggested retail price of $149 and is now available at retailers in twelve states: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, California, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Vermont, and Tennessee, with Michigan to follow in April. BHAKTA 2013 Bourbon is also available for purchase through partners linked at bhaktaspirits.com for shipping to 41 states.
