Heaven Hill Distillery Announces Bernheim Barrel Proof Wheat Whiskey

Heaven Hill Distillery has announced the release of the first national Barrel Proof expression of Bernheim Original Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey.
Bernheim Barrel Proof is made at the Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky with Heaven Hill’s Wheat Whiskey mash bill which is comprised of 51% wheat, 37% corn, and 12% malted barley. It’s aged from seven to nine years in Heaven Hill’s rickhouses before being pulled straight from the barrel and bottled without chill filtration.
Bernheim Barrel Proof will be a nationally allocated product released in batches, twice a year. Each release will have a unique batch number and the proof which will vary from batch to batch. The first release, Batch A223, is bottled at 118.8 proof (59.4% ABV). The letter “A” represents the first batch of the year, the first number represents the month of the release with 2 indicating February, and the last two digits indicate the corresponding year with 23 designating 2023.
Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch A223 is described as having aromas of “oak staves and fresh bread,” with the palate exhibiting “buttery hints of caramel, honey, and the spiciness of cloves.” It concludes with a “soft, yet complex” finish with “lasting notes of honey and caramel.”
Bernheim Barrel Proof Batch A223 will be available in limited quantities beginning this month and carries a suggested retail price of $64.99.
