Maker’s Mark Launches Wood Finishing Series 2022 Limited Releases: BRT-01 and BRT-02

Maker’s Mark has announced the latest entries in their Wood Finishing Series: BRT-01 and BRT-02, a two-part release made to be enjoyed as a pair.
Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series Limited Releases are crafted by finishing fully-matured, cask strength Maker’s Mark in secondary barrels containing proprietary wood staves. The barrels are rested in Maker’s Mark’s limestone cellar, where the cask strength bourbon interacts with the staves to develop the expressions’ unique taste profiles.
BRT-01 and BRT-02 were created to showcase the barrel rotation process at Maker’s Mark Distillery. The name BRT was given to these expressions because of the influence that the consistent practice of hand-barrel rotation (BRT) and temperature has on the Maker’s Mark whisky process. BRT-01 is inspired by the hotter top of the rickhouse and uses American oak staves to dial up the flavors developed over the first three years of aging, whereas BRT-02 is inspired by the cooler bottom of the rickhouse and uses French oak staves to dial up the flavors developed over its final years of aging.
BRT-01 is described as having aromas of “caramel and butterscotch mixed with a sweet spice”, a “bright” palate with “brown sugar and stone fruit,” and a “warm and toasty” finish “with hints of honey.”
BRT-02 is described as having aromas of “a seasoned oak nuttiness combined with molasses”, notes of “prevalent dark fruit and chocolate with baking spices” on the palate, and a “long, viscous, and round” finish.
Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 Limited Releases BRT-01 and BRT-02 are bottled at a cask strength of 109 proof (54.7% ABV) and are available now at a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
