Buffalo Trace Distillery Releases Double Eagle Very Rare Third Edition

Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced the third release of Double Eagle Very Rare, a highly limited, 20 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that was first introduced in 2019.
As with previous releases, Double Eagle Very Rare is bottled in a crystal decanter and packaged in a silver presentation box featuring sliding doors imprinted with an eagle feather design. Sliding open the doors triggers spotlights above and below the bottle and grants access to an individually numbered letter of authenticity.
Where the third edition of Double Eagle Very Rare differs is in proof – it’s bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV) as opposed to 90 proof (45% ABV), a nod to the original proof of Eagle Rare Bourbon when it was first released in 1975.
Double Eagle Very Rare is described as having aromas of “dark cherries and creamy caramel”, with notes of “dark chocolate, smoked oak, and dates” on the palate, followed by “a long, complex finish of cinnamon, anise and oak.”
The third edition of Double Eagle Very Rare is limited to just 199 bottles at a suggested retail price of $2,000 and will be available beginning this month.
