High West Launches Barrel Finished Cocktails
High West Distillery has announced the discontinuation of their 36th Vote Barreled Manhattan and the launch of two new ready to drink whiskey cocktails: Barrel Finished Old Fashioned and Barrel Finished Manhattan.
The new High West Barrel Finished cocktails are created “using time-tested recipes and high quality, real ingredients such as demerara sugar, aromatic bitters and premium vermouth” and matured in used rye barrels, “allowing the flavors to marry together, creating a rich, smooth and well-rounded product.”
The Barrel Finished Old Fashioned is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) and described as having aromas of “cassia bark, licorice root, eucalyptus, orange spice tea, and sandalwood”, with notes of “orange zest, dried cherry, sassafras, allspice, and orange cinnamon buns” on the palate, finishing with “black pepper, cola, and cinnamon.” High West recommends serving over ice, garnished with a lemon and orange twist.
The Barrel Finished Manhattan is bottled at 37% ABV (74 proof) and described as having aromas of “black cherry fruit leather, stewed strawberries, orange peel, molasses, cinnamon bark, and sage”, with notes of “cherry turnover, spiced apples, sun-dried raisins, candied orange rind, rosemary, and savory spice” on the palate, finishing with “orange pastry rolls, dark chocolate, and dried fig.” High West recommends serving over ice, garnished with a cherry.
High West Barrel Finished cocktails carry a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 750 mL bottle, enough to pour approximately 12 cocktails. High West Barrel Finished Cocktails are available now at the High West General Stores in Utah and will be rolling out to retailers in the United States throughout September.
