WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye 6 Year Old Revealed

Labels submitted to the TTB have revealed WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye, a 6 year old, 100% rye whiskey sourced from Alberta Distillers in Canada and bottled at 96.56 proof (48.28% ABV).
The back label states:
Our vision is to respect tradition, embrace progress, and bring friends together over the world’s greatest rye whiskey. Dave Pickerell returned to our warehouse to realize his dreams of creating the best aged rye whiskey for your cocktail – 100% rye for full spice flavors, aged 6 years for unprecedented complexity, and bottled at his ideal strength. Stir or shake in good company.
WhistlePig currently has no product offerings in the budget friendly, entry level rye whiskey category, and WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye will fill in that gap.
It’s interesting to note the lack of a straight rye whiskey designation, even though WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye more than meets the minimum age requirement. There’s no reason not to use the straight rye designation unless WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye contains additives, legally preventing them from using the designation.
WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye is expected to hit stores later this year.
