Colonel E.H. Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods Revealed

Colonel E.H. Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods - Front Label

Labels submitted to the TTB have revealed Colonel E.H. Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods, a straight bourbon whisky from Buffalo Trace that uses amaranth in the mash bill.

The back label describes amaranth as a grain similar to wheat that was originally cultivated by the Aztecs and known as the “Grain of the Gods.” Buffalo Trace claims that inclusion of amaranth in the mash bill adds “a complex taste with subtle flavors ranging from a nose of butterscotch and spearmint, to a finish of pecans and dark berries.”

Colonel E.H. Taylor Amaranth Grain of the Gods will be bottled in bond at 50% ABV and is expected to hit stores in limited quantities later this year.
