Harpoon Brewery Launches Green Mountain Ryed WhistlePig Barrel-Aged IPA

Harpoon Brewery has launched Green Mountain Ryed, the latest collaboration between the Boston based brewery and the WhistlePig distillery in Vermont. Green Mountain Ryed is a blend of Barrel-Aged Imperial Rye Ale with a heavily dry-hopped New England Rye IPA, both partially brewed with some of WhistlePig’s own estate-grown Rye.
To create Green Mountain Ryed, high-gravity Rye Ale was brewed and aged in freshly-emptied WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye barrels. Two months later, heavily dry-hopped New England Rye IPA was brewed featuring citrus-heavy hops such as Citra, Centennial, Simcoe, and Amarillo. After emptying the barrels, the two were blended into one.
Green Mountain Ryed is described as “subtly hazy and gold with plenty of Rye-like spice — perfectly balancing the whiskey and oak characteristics of a barrel-aged beer with the juicy citrus zest characteristics of a Hazy IPA.”
Harpoon Green Mountain Ryed is canned at 7% ABV and is available in 16 Oz singles and 4-packs, as well as on draft at both Harpoon breweries and in select markets.
