Frey Ranch Distillery has announced the launch of Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest.

The release of Second Harvest coincides with the distillery’s annual Whiskey Harvest – a period between August and October when Co-Founder and Whiskey Farmer Colby Frey harvests the corn, wheat, barley, rye, and oats that are used to make all Frey Ranch whiskeys.

For Second Harvest, Colby and his wife Ashley again collaborated with Master Blender Nancy Fraley, who cherry picked her favorite single barrels alongside the Freys and Frey Ranch Master Distiller Russell Wedlake to create the blend.

With barrels ranging in age from eight years and seven months to four years and six months, Second Harvest features 52.5% of 100% Wheat Whiskey, 14.25% of Four Grain Bourbon, 9.5% of 100% Unmalted Barley Whiskey, 9.5% of 100% Malted Barley Whiskey, 9.5% of 100% Barley Whiskey (half malted and half unmalted), and 4.25% of Quad Malt Whiskey.

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest is bottled at 122.44 proof (61.22% ABV) and described as having aromas of “hot chocolate spiked with crème de menthe, a hint of muddled mint, whipped cream, and banana pudding topped with lemon merengue, biscotti dipped in caramel macchiato, almond butter, and nougat.” The palate exhibits “waves of Sierra Nevada alfalfa blossom honey, shortbread, crème brulee, toasted marshmallow, Greek baklava with walnuts, orange marmalade over a hot buttered croissant, and freshly cut tangerine peels.” The finish is “soft and creamy from the wheat, yet it lingers on the tongue with custard notes and light orange citrus.”

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest is presented in a bottle that serves as an homage to the Frey family’s legacy of farming in Nevada. The traditional Frey Ranch stopper is replaced with a vintage tractor topper made from 100% recycled metal. The bottle itself is nestled in exterior packaging reminiscent of a grain silo – a nod to the grains silos that pepper the landscape at the Frey Ranch farm in Fallon. The Frey family motto “Be good to the land and the land will be good to you” is prominently featured on the packaging as a reminder of Frey Ranch Distillery’s commonsense approach to sustainability.

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest is limited to 600 numbered bottles and carries a suggested retail price of $249.99. Due to its limited nature, Frey Ranch is hosting an online lottery – live now through Monday, September 29th at 11:59 PM – for the opportunity to purchase a bottle. Exactly 333 bottles will be available online via the lottery. On Saturday, September 27, an additional 150 bottles will be available exclusively in the Frey Ranch Tasting Room in Fallon, NV. In the coming weeks, a very limited number of bottles will be available at select retailers across Nevada and California.

Frey Ranch Distillery is celebrating a decade of distilling and five generations of agricultural achievements with the launch of Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition.

To commemorate this special milestone, Frey Ranch co-founders Colby and Ashley Frey collaborated with Master Blender Nancy Fraley of Jos. A. Magnus & Co. to handpick the barrels used to create this limited edition American Whiskey.

Featuring all five of the grains grown on-site at the farm, including non-GMO dent corn, winter wheat, winter rye, barley, and oat, the Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition (also known as “First Harvest”) is an American Whiskey selected and blended from Colby, Ashley, Nancy, and Frey Ranch Master Distiller Russell Wedlake’s favorite single barrels. The final blend is bottled at 121.14 proof (60.57% ABV) and features whiskey as old as seven and ½ years and a mash bill of 71.2% winter rye, 9.3% soft white winter wheat, a 10.5% blend representing 66.6% corn, 10% wheat, 12% malted barley and 11.4% oat, and a 9% blend representing 66.6% corn, 11.4% rye, 12% malted barley and 10% oat.

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition is described as “a delightfully balanced sipping whiskey that drinks like a deconstructed s’more.” It exhibits aromas of “butterscotch and oatmeal raisin cookie with cinnamon graham cracker.” The palate opens with “a coating of confectionary sugar, which leads to a rich pop of custard and marshmallow that beautifully coats the mouth.” The finish is “long and lovely – starting with nutty milk chocolate and topping off the tasting experience with sweet and buttery Nevada Pinyon Pinenut.”

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition is presented in a bottle that serves as an homage to the Frey family’s legacy of farming in Nevada.

Frey Ranch Harvester Series: 10th Anniversary Edition is limited to 500 numbered bottles and carries a suggested retail price of $249.99. It launched at the Frey Ranch tasting room on April 26th, online today, and it will be available at retail locations in Nevada soon.

Frey Ranch Distillery has announced the latest limited release in its Single Grain Series: Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey.

Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey was made from two-row unmalted barley that was grown, harvested, smoked, milled and pot distilled on the Frey Ranch farm, then aged for four years and eight months and bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV).

Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey is described as having aromas of “peanut butter and jelly married with a grain-forward sweet pastry note.” The palate exhibits notes of “honey and allspice,” concluding with a note “reminiscent of a favorite breakfast cereal like Honey Nut Cheerios” on the finish.

Frey Ranch 100% Barley Whiskey will be available online at freyranch.com on February 21 and in the Fallon, Nevada Tasting Room on February 22 for $59.99 for a 375 mL bottle.
